South African Sire National Assembly Dies

Prominent South African sire National Assembly died Jan. 22, it was reported by Highlands Stud, where he stood from 1998-2010. The son of Danzig was 30.

National Assembly's final crop includes group I winner Soft Falling Rain. The stallion sired numerous other group I winners in South Africa, including Big Brass, Bold Thatch, Deliberation, Duchess Dara, Enchantress, Flight Alert, Forward Filly, Grand Emporium, Historic Lady, National Colour, National Currency, and Secretary General.

National Assembly sired 58 stakes winners, including nine champions, for progeny earnings of more than $9.4 million.

Unraced due to an injury, National Assembly is out of the Buckpasser mare Renounce. He was bred in Ontario by R.M. Anderson.
