Gary Matthews, former chief financial officer for Calumet Farm, will be required to serve his entire 21-month prison sentence for his role in defrauding a Houston bank.
The Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals two weeks ago affirmed Matthews' conviction for intentionally defrauding the First City National Bank of Houston out of $65 million in loans. The appellate court also denied all other requests for relief. The Lexington attorney could have requested a rehearing or appealed to the Supreme Court but chose not to, according Allen Goodling, one of Matthews' attorneys.
Matthews, 52, is serving out his sentence at the federal prison in Manchester, Ky. His scheduled release is Dec. 28 of this year.
