Arctic Blast Leads Tracks to Cancel Racing

Severe cold and wind led a several racetracks to cancel their live programs for Jan. 6-7.

Beulah Park in Ohio was scheduled to begin its winter/spring meet Jan. 6, but with a temperature of minus 1 degree in the Columbus area as of noon, the program was scrapped. Similar conditions led officials to cancel the Jan. 7 program as well.

Parx Racing held live racing Jan. 6 but canceled its Jan. 7 program because of severely cold temperatures and wind.

In West Virginia, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races canceled live racing for the evening of Jan. 7 because of an expected temperature in the single digits at post time. The next live program is scheduled for Jan. 8.
