Freedom Crest is being prepared to make his 6-year-old debut in the $1 million Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I) on March 2. The Kentucky-bred son of To Freedom last raced in October, when last in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) after defeating Tiznow and Skimming in the Goodwood Breeders' Cup Hnadicap (gr. II).

"I'm sure he'll be 30-1 again (in the Big 'Cap)," trainer Richard Baltas said. "It's a lot to ask, but it could be a small field and he runs well fresh."

Baltas was pleased with Freedom Crest's one-mile work on Monday at Hollywood Park.

"He went the last three-eighths in :35," Baltas said. "We just broke him off easy and we let him finish. The horse is doing good. Hopefully, he's fit enough. I'll give him another three-quarters work, or seven-eighths, before the race."

Corey Nakatani will ride Freedom Crest in the race.

Santa Anita lists the following horses, with riders, as probable for the Santa Anita Handicap: Cagney, Mike Smith; Dig For It, no rider; Euchre, Garrett Gomez; Fancy As, Gary Stevens; Freedom Crest, Corey Nakatani; Futural, no rider; Kudos, Eddie Delahoussaye; Last Parade, no rider, and Mizzen Mast, Kent Desormeaux. Possibles are Giant Gentleman, Irisheyesareflying, Seinne, and Western Pride.
