Big Band Sound to Stand at Gulf Coast Equine

Grade II winner Big Band Sound has been retired from racing and will stand the 2014 season at Ray Paul and Anna Paul's Gulf Coast Equine near Sunset, La.

The 6-year-old son of Bernstein earned $402,560 with a 5-4-3 record from 20 starts. He will stand his first season for $2,500 (live foal, stands and nurses).

Big Band Sound was bred in Kentucky by Richard Schultz, who raced him in partnership with Kendel Standlee. The bay horse won last year's Play the King Stakes (Can-II) at Woodbine and placed in four other stakes races during his career. He is out of the winning Seeking the Gold mare Ensnare, who also has produced stakes winner Silver Prospector, and each of his first four dams were bred in Kentucky by Ogden Mills Phipps.

The owners of Big Band Sound are offering a $50,000 bonus to the breeder of the first graded stakes winner from his initial foal crop.
