Joe and Helen Barbazon announced the arrival of four additional stallions at their newly formed Pleasant Acres Stallions near Morriston, Fla., along with the 2014 stud fees for the roster, which now numbers six. Descriptions of the new stallions are as follows:
Pollard's Vision comes to Morriston after standing the 2013 season at Waldorf Farm near North Chatham, N.Y., before which he stood at Wintergreen Stallion Station near Midway, Ky. By Carson City, out of the Dixieland Band mare Etats Unis, he is a multiple graded stakes winner and earner of more than $1.4 million.
Pollard's Vision has five crops of racing age, 305 foals of racing age, 86 2-year-olds of 2013, and progeny earnings of more than $10.8 million. His top runner is 2010 champion 3-year-old filly Blind Luck, a 10-time graded stakes winner, who scored her biggest victories in the grade I Betfair TVG Alabama, Kentucky Oaks, Hollywood Starlet, Oak Leaf, Las Virgenes, and Vanity Handicap.
The farm reports that Pollard's Vision is one of only two stallions standing in Florida who have sired an Eclipse Award winner. He will stand for $5,000, the same fee as last year.
Anthony's Cross , a son of Indian Charlie, out of the Unbridled mare Screening, won the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (gr. II) at Santa Anita, and finished third in both the Sham Stakes (gr. II) and Berkeley Handicap (gr. III), earning $230,790. The half brother to grade III victor Fugitive Angel will stand for $2,500.
Beau Choix is by Elusive Quality , out of the multiple graded stakes-winning Belong to Me mare Belle Cherie. A four-time stakes winner, Beau Choix also placed in seven black-type events, including the Jamaica Handicap (gr. IT), Fourstardave Handicap (gr. IIT), Appleton Stakes (gr. IIIT) and Canadian Turf Stakes (gr. IIIT). He compiled a record of 7-5-6 in 30 starts while earning $425,694. He will stand for $2,500.
Passion for Gold is by Medaglia d'Oro , out of the grade II-winning Thunder Gulch mare C'Est L'Amour. As a 2-year-old, in just three starts, Passion for Gold broke his maiden in England, won the Criterium de Saint-Cloud (Fr-I) in France, was third in the Juddmonte Beresford Stakes (Ire-II), and was named a highweight colt on the French Free Handicap. His fee is set at $5,000.
All Pleasant Acres stallions stipulate live foal, stands and nurses.
A stallion presentation will be held at the Morristion, Fla. stallion facility Sunday, Dec. 8 from noon to 3 p.m. Food and refreshments will be served along with a drawing for complimentary seasons.
