Special Rate, who ranks among the top 10 stallions in Texas, has been moved to Sue Dowling's Stoneview Farm near Hempstead, Texas, for the 2014 breeding season.

Special Rate had previously stood since 2006 at Joe and Sharon Kerby's Key Ranch near Salado, Texas.

A stakes-winning son of Pulpit, Special Rate is a half brother to grade I winners Tates Creek and Sightseek and is out of the stakes-winning Nureyev mare Viviana.

His leading runner is multiple stakes winner Patty's Pride, an earner of more than $250,000.

"We're excited to have the opportunity to stand Special Rate," said Dowling in a release. "He has all the necessary tools to take his stud career to the next level. We will be strongly supporting Special Rate, as will many of our clients."

Owned by a syndicate, Special Rate's 2014 fee is $3,000 stands and nurses.
