Grade I Winner Overanalyze Retired to WinStar
Arkansas Derby (gr. I) Overanalyze has been retired from racing and will stand the 2014 breeding season at Kenny Troutt's WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky., as a participant in WinStar's Dream Big program.
The Dream Big program offers breeders the opportunity to earn a lifetime breeding right in Overanalyze by breeding and producing two live foals on stands-and-nurses contracts in the first two years of his stallion career. Overanalyze's 2014 fee will be $10,000.
"Overanalyze is currently the last grade I winner by Dixie Union, who was proving to be a great sire from a very important line before his early passing," Elliott Walden, WinStar president and chief executive officer, said in a release. "Overanalyze has a very similar profile as Union Rags , so we believe he presents tremendous value through our Dream Big program.
Trained by Todd Pletcher for Mike Repole's Repole Stable, Overanalyze impressively captured his debut at Saratoga Race Course at 2 with a wire-to-wire win in :57 2/5 for five furlongs before capturing the Futurity Stakes (gr. II) at Belmont Park, drawing off by 3 1/4 lengths from off the pace.
Overanalyze stretched out to 1 1/8 miles to win the 2012 Remsen Stakes (gr. II) at Aqueduct Racetrack over Normandy Invasion to close out his juvenile campaign. He was weighted at 120 pounds on the Experimental Free Handicap.
In 2013, Overanalyze scored his biggest career win in the Arkansas Derby, prevailing by a decisive 4 1/4-lengths over a field that included eventual Preakness Stakes (gr. I) winner Oxbow . He retires as the late Dixie Union's last grade I-winning millionaire to enter stud, with three major graded-stakes wins and lifetime earnings of $1,046,381.
"Overanalyze is a grade I winner by a good sire, was an expensive yearling, and was a multiple graded-winning 2-year-old. What more can you say? He has every chance to be a quality sire," Pletcher said.
Bred in Kentucky by Diamond A. Racing Corp., Overanalyze is out of the Unaccounted For mare Unacloud and is a half brother to grade I-winning juvenile Meadow Breeze. Repole purchased Overanalyze for $380,000 through J.J. Crupi, agent, at the 2011 Keeneland September sale from Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
"Overanalyze's Arkansas Derby win was as impressive of a Derby prep as there was all season in my opinion," Repole said. "I love this horse's attributes. WinStar has committed to breeding 10 mares to him, and I told them I'd match that with 10 of my own mares."
