Cityscape, decisive winner of the 2012 Dubai Duty Free (UAE-I), will stand in 2014 at Simon Sweeting's Overbury Stud in Gloucestershire, England, for a fee of £5,000 (about $8,100 in United States funds).
Sweeting told Racing Post he had bought the English-bred 7-year-old son of Selkirk with a partnership group in a deal brokered by Blandford Bloodstock.
"We're very lucky to have a horse of his caliber standing at Overbury Stud," Sweeting told Racing Post. "He is the best son of Selkirk to retire to stud and he will be a great outcross for breeders to use in the coming years.
"He was an exceptional performer and is a lovely-looking horse–it is very exciting to be standing a horse like him. He also has a strong pedigree, being a half-brother to Bated Breath and coming from the family of Redoute's Choice. Everything is there on the page."
Cityscape was bred and raced by Juddmonte Farms owner Khalid Abdullah, who retains five breeding rights.
Trained throughout his career by Roger Charlton, Cityscape scored additional group victories in the Nayef Joel Stakes (Eng-III) at 4 and the Woodies DIY Supporting Irish Autism Solonaway (Ire-III) and Prix Perth (Fr-III) at 5. He also placed in nine graded or group stakes, including six grade or group I races in England, France, Hong Kong, Italy, and Canada.
In all, he compiled a career record of 6-9-2 from 23 starts for earnings of $4,653,891.
Cityscape was produced from the stakes-winning Distant View mare Tantina, who hails from the female family of European champion and English, Irish, and French highweight Xaar.
Cityscape's aforementioned half brother, Bated Breath (by Dansili), won the 2012 Betfred.com Temple Stakes (Eng-II) and has placed in five other grade or group I races.
