Chatain, a dual graded stakes winner, will move to Carrol Castille's Whispering Oaks Farm-Louisiana Stallion Station North near Carencro, La., for the 2014 breeding season as the property of a partnership, the farm announced Oct. 8.

He stood in 2013 at Holly Hill Farm near Benton, La. A stud fee has been set at $1,500, stands and nurses.

A son of Forest Wildcat, Chatain was bred in Kentucky by Stonerside Stable out of the Red Ransom mare Roujoleur. Trained by Angel Penna, Jr., Chatain won Gulfstream Park's Hal's Hope Handicap (gr. III) twice, setting a track record for a mile in 1:33.87 in 2007. In nine starts the bay horse achieved a record of 6-1-0 and earned $276,330 for owners Lazy F Ranch.

From a limited first crop, Chatain's top-earning progeny is Pardonmecomingthru, stakes-placed in the TTA Sales Futurity. His oldest runners are 3-year-olds.

"We are pleased to add Chatain to our stallion roster here at Whispering Oaks," said Castille. "He was a very talented miler whose progeny have performed well at the track, and he will have every chance to succeed here alongside Closing Argument  , Salute the Sarge, Sorcerer's Stone, and Unbridledsensation."
