Spanish Steps, sire of last year's Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. I) winner and Eclipse Award finalist Little Mike, has been sold to stand in Saudi Arabia in a deal brokered by Chad Schumer Bloodstock.
The son of Unbridled who is a brother to the late successful sire Unbridled's Song stood the past season at Lake Shore Farm Stallions in Scottsburgh, Ind.
From 164 starters, Spanish Steps is the sire of 92 winners and seven stakes winners led by top turf performer Little Mike. The earner of more than $3.1 million, Little Mike won last year's Woodford Reserve Turf Classic Stakes, Arlington Million Stakes, and Breeders' Cup Turf ( all gr. I), in which he defeated Point of Entry and St. Nicholas Abbey.
"With the recent sad passing of classic sire Unbridled's Song, we feel honored to have been able to secure his brother Spanish Steps, himself already proven as a grade I sire," Schumer said. "We feel his progeny will be well suited to racing conditions in Saudi Arabia and look forward to watching the next stage of his career."
