The national Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association has named five owners to receive its regional "Owner of the Year" awards at the organization's annual awards dinner Sept 8.
The top regional owners who will be honored at the dinner are John and Betty Mabee (Western), Judy Klosterman (Midwest), Dr. Richard and Gale Reveley (Mid-Atlantic), Stanley Ersoff (Southern), and the late Tim Boyan (Eastern).
"Without question and without exception, they represent the highest qualities and standards in Thoroughred racing," TOBA president Dan Metzger said of the recipients.
The regional awards are intended to recognize the owners overall contributions in the five major North American racing regions.
In addition to the regional owner awards, the dinner will also include the national "Owner of the Year" and "Breeder of the Year" awards, as well as honor 28 state breeders of the year. TOBA will also present the "Industry Service Award" at the dinner.
The TOBA dinner will be held at Vinery Farm near Lexington, Ky., with entertainment provided by Alison Krauss and Union Station.
