202 Yearlings Cataloged for Louisiana Sale

The Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana annual yearling sale has cataloged 202 horses for its Sept. 24 auction, which begins at 11 a.m. CT at the Ike Hamilton Center in West Monroe, La.

"We are anticipating a very successful sale," said Daren English, sales director. "Louisiana-breds are doing extremely well at the racetrack and many of them are graduates of this sale."

The Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

Designer Legs, a daughter of Graeme Hall, won her first two races at Canterbury Park and Prairie Meadows with trainer Gary Scherer. The filly was turned over to trainer Dallas Stewart by owner Murray Valene to point for the Adirondack Stakes (gr. II) at Saratoga Race Course Aug. 11, when she paid $35 to win.

Valene purchased Designer Legs for $10,000 at the 2012 sale and has been buying and supporting the Louisiana bred program for 40 years. "She was a standout," said Valene. "She has the 'look' and was a big strong yearling."
