Dunkleberger Injured in Three-Horse Spill at Aqueduct

Three horses fell nearing the stretch during the running of the ninth race at Aqueduct Saturday in a chain-reaction spill that left jockey Travis Dunkleberger hospitalized and two horses euthanized.

Flo's Charm, the favorite, broke down while in the lead and fell on the far turn. Jettason, fell next. Both incurred leg fractures and were euthanized. Dancing Lou, who also fell, appeared to escape injury.

Dunkelberger, Flo's Charm's rider, was taken to Jamaica Hospital for evaluation after complaining of pain in his ribs and right arm.

Raul Rojas and Juilian Pimentel were the two other jockeys who became unseated. Pimentel suffered a minor cut on his nose; Rojas had no apparent injuries.

Flo's Charm fractured his left-front cannon bone. Jettason suffered a fractured sesamoid in his right-front leg.
