Grade I winner Aubby K, retired after being injured in a workout at Saratoga Race Course, has been sold privately as a broodmare prospect for an undisclosed price, trainer Ralph Nicks confirmed Aug. 2.

Nicks declined to reveal the name of the buyer and would not say if the client was located in the United States.

Aubby K, winner of this year's Humana Distaff (gr. I) and Inside Information Stakes (gr. II), was found to have sustained a fractured sesamoid in her foreleg following a workout at Saratoga Race Course July 29.

Nicks trained the 4-year-old homebred daughter of Street Sense   for James Spence.

"No surgery was needed. She's on stall rest, but she's not broken down," Nicks told The Blood-Horse following Aubby K's retirement. He said that it was not necessarily a career-ending injury.

"The only relieving part about (the injury) was that she walked home under her own power and stands good in her stall," Nicks continued.

Aubby K was bred in Kentucky out of the Capote mare Lilly Capote. In nine starts the dark bay filly achieved a record of 4-0-2 and earned $435,004.
