202 Yearlings Cataloged for Louisiana Sale
The Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana has cataloged 202 horses to its annual yearling sale that will be held Sept. 24 at the Ike Hamilton Center in West Monroe, La.
The sale begins at 11 a.m. CDT. The Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association.
There are 94 stallions represented, while 35 consignors will have offerings.
"New stallions now standing in Louisiana brought better mares to the program," said Roger Heitzmann, secretary/treasurer for the LTBA and executive director for the sale. "The result is that we are producing better horses, and it is reflected in our sale catalog."
"The breeders consigned quality stock to this sale," sales director Daren English said. "This is going to help attract buyers to West Monroe."
All accredited Louisiana-bred foals of 2012 auctioned in the sale are eligible for a "Bayou State Bonus."
Any such colt/gelding sold in the sale that wins the 2014 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile, the 2015 Crescent City Derby, and the 2015 A.L. "Red" Erwin Memorial Stakes will receive a $100,000 bonus at the completion of the final race. Any such filly sold in the sale that wins the 2014 Louisiana Champions Day Lassie, the 2015 Crescent City Oaks, and the 2015 Elge Rasberry Memorial Stakes will receive a $100,000 bonus at the official completion of the final race.
The bonus paid will be added to the earnings of the winning horse and paid to the owner of the horse after the official completion of the final race.
