Betfair Hollywood Park showed gains in both all-source handle and daily average handle during the 49-day spring/summer stand that was the penultimate meet before the track ceases live racing.
The meet that commemorated the track's 75th anniversary ended July 14 with total commingled handle of $462,251,389, up 2% over the $453,205,706 wagered during the 50-day spring/summer meet in 2012.
Daily average all-sources handle of $9,433,702 represented a 4.1% increase from the daily average of $9,064,114 last year.
The track said in a release that average daily handle in the state of California, bolstered by advance deposit wagering, increased 1.5% to $5,319,781 from $5,242,357 in 2012. The average daily out of state handle of $4,113,921 was up 7.6% from $3,821,757 a year earlier.
Hollywood Park reported the Players' Pick 5, unveiled at the start of the 2011 spring/summer meet and featuring a 14% takeout, had a daily average of $290,774 bet, a boost of nearly 25% from 2012.
Field size also had a slight bump, increasing from 7.48 horses per race a year ago to 7.60 in 2013. According to The Jockey Club Information Systems, average daily purses increased slightly to $446,153 over the $441,289 average in 2012.
Hollywood Park did not release attendance figures for the meet.
The final meet in Hollywood Park history is scheduled for Nov. 7-Dec. 22.
