Juddmonte Farms' progressive Flintshire was a convincing winner of the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris (Fr-I) July 13 at Longchamp and became a horse to watch for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I).

The 7-10 favorite in the race for 3-year-olds, Flintshire was geared down nearing the finish line and won by 1 1/2 lengths from maiden winner Manndawi. French group II winner and Investec Epsom Derby (Eng-I) fifth Ocovango was a length back in third in the eight-horse field.

Off a dawdling pace set by Park Reel, Flintshire raced into contention 400 meters out before taking command en route to the facile victory under Maxime Guyon.

Flintshire was timed in 2:28.57 for 2,400 meters (about 1 1/2 miles) to win for the third time in four career starts. He is the 12th Grand Prix de Paris winner for trainer Andre Fabre, who also conditions Ocovango.

Multiple group winner Battle of Marengo, fourth at Epsom, finished seventh wearing blinkers for the first time.

A 2 1/2-length winner in his career debut going about 1 1/8 miles in May at Chantilly, Flintshire followed with a runner-up finish when stretching out to a 1 5/16 miles in an allowance race next time out June 1 at Longchamp. He rebounded with an impressive victory when stepping up to group competition two weeks later in the Prix du Lys (Fr-III), a 2,400-meter prep for the Grand Prix de Paris, and carried that momentum into the main event.

Flintshire becomes the 13th group I winner for Dansili, who stands for Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte operation at Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket. He is his sire's third Grand Prix de Paris winner, joining Rail Link (2006), who continued on to capture that season's Arc, and Zambezi Sun (2007), a two-time Arc starter.

Juddmonte bred Flintshire out of multiple French group winner and 2002 Prix de Diane (Fr-I French Oaks) runner-up Dance Routine, by Sadler's Wells.
