Horsemen at Suffolk Downs are hosting a golf tournament Aug. 15 to benefit retired Thoroughbred racehorses.

Dedicated to finding them new homes and new opportunities, all proceeds from the event will be used for the benefit of retired horses.

The 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, hosted by the Massachusetts Thoroughbred Breeders Association and the New England Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association, will be held at the Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis, Mass. The shotgun format begins at noon.

Golfers may participate for $125 per person or $500 per foursome. The package includes all fees, tee gifts, golf balls, water and snacks, a box lunch, a buffet dinner, tennis, miniature golf, basketball, bocce, horseshoes, and more. Non-golfers may attend the dinner and non-golf activities for $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 7 to 12. There is no charge for children 6 and younger.

Individual hole sponsorships are available for $100 and include dinner for the sponsor. Raffle items and charitable donations are accepted.

The deadline for registration is Aug. 6 and forms are available at the NEHBPA office at Suffolk Downs and in the track program. The registration form may also be downloaded from www.massbreds.com.
