Just two months ago, Einstein was awaiting his first starter. As of one week ago, he now counts two winners from his first two starters, E Equalsmcsquared and Theoryofrelativity. It's safe to say that for a stallion, this kind of beginning is worth the wait.
Einstein's first winner, E Equalsmcsquared, outperformed her rivals by 7 3/4 lengths in her second effort, a 4 1/2-furlong test May 18 at Lone Star Park (VIDEO). The filly, out of the Conquistador Cielo mare Prairie Spring, was bred in Kentucky by Paradise Productions. F. C. Frazier trains the winning juvenile for owners Linden Hatch and Brent Stapley.
Theoryofrelativity, a 2-year-old son of the Brazilian-bred stallion, captured his debut June 24 at Delaware Park, besting the field by 5 3/4 lengths at the wire, also in a 4 1/2-furlong trial (VIDEO). A homebred for Steeplechase Farm, the New York-bred colt is out of Border Bound, by Boundary.
As a runner, Einstein had to wait a while to break from the gate. Foaled in the Southern Hemisphere, his actual birthday falls on October 23, putting his physical growth behind his contemporaries born north of the equator. His first start was in the fall of 2005, one day before he actually turned three. With wins at 1 mile to 1 7/16 miles on the grass, the dirt, and over Santa Anita Park's former Cushion Track, the versatile 7-year-old retired with a record of 11-4-4 from his 30 starts and earnings just shy of $3 million.
Bred by Fazenda Mondesir, Einstein is by Spend a Buck, out of Gay Charm, by Ghadeer, a son of Lyphard. According to Adena Springs, Einstein has been often been choice for older mares with deep families.
Breeders with mares that perhaps have yet to find a successful match in the breeding shed or that are looking for a fresh bloodline often find Einstein's outcross pedigree very attractive. Additionally, a mating with Einstein provides the opportunity to tap into the strong Buckpasser sire line, known for its success in producing broodmares.
Mr. Propspector line mares, as well as mares from the Seeking the Gold, Miswaki, Woodman, and Danzig lines are among the potentially successful matings for Einstein's pedigree. They've already shown early promise in both winners: E Equalsmcsquared's dam is by by Conquistador Cielo (Mr. Prospector) and Theoryofrelativity's broodmare sire was a son of Danzig.
Several others of Einstein's progeny are beginning to show up on the work tabs, preparing for their debuts. One in particular is Rankhasprivileges, who is currently in training with Ken McPeek. It was McPeek who purchased Einstein as a yearling and worked with him as a juvenile before taking a sabbatical from training. McPeek said he remembers the stallion as a "big and gangly yearling."
According to the conditioner, like his sire, there's no rush with Rankhasprivileges, who put in a solid work of 4 furlongs in :48 on June 8 at Keeneland.
"He was training in spring, and he's at my farm now for time to grow up some more," McPeek said.
Rankhasprivileges is also from the Mr. Prospector line. His dam, Scrape is a full sister to Forty Niner There are no scheduled plans to race the colt just yet, rather the trainer expects to wait until later in the year.
