Jockey Luis Contreras enjoyed a milestone day July 1 at Woodbine.
In the third race Contreras secured the 1,000th victory of his career when he guided Norseman Racing Stable's Ifimlyinimdyin to a narrow victory in the six-furlong claiming race. The milestone does not count wins he posted riding in Mexico.
The win was the second of four on the day for Contreras, including a 9 1/4-length score in the Dominion Day Stakes (Can-III) as Delegation completed the 1 1/4-mile race in a track record 2:01.51 on the Polytrack.
Mounts guided by Contreras, 27, a native of Mexico City, have earned nearly $40.5 million since he began riding in 2006. In 2011, Contreras guided filly Inglorious to victories in the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks Presented by Budweiser and the $1-million Queen's Plate Stakes at Woodbine.
