The North American Pari-Mutuel Regulators Association (NAPRA) and the Association of Racing Commissioners International (RCI) held the first joint Pari-Mutuel Model Rules committee meeting Feb. 1-2 at Lone Star Park.

Co-chaired by Gordon Hare, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission, and Dennis Oelschlager, Executive Secretary of the Nebraska Racing Commission, the committee worked toward combining the model rules of the two organizations into one document. With an overall process now in place, the committee plans to meet twice a year to consider industry concerns regarding the consideration of new rule proposals as well as the review and possible updating of existing model rules.

Lonny Powell, President and CEO of RCI, and Frank Lamb, Executive Director of NAPRA, were on hand for the meeting.
