Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale Shows Increases

Queen Suite, an 11-year-old Bates Motel mare believed in foal to El Prado, was purchased by Frank A. Bonsal Jr. for $60,000 to top Monday's Fasig-Tipton Midlantic winter mixed sale at Timonium, Md. A half-sister to the dam of stakes winner True Valay, Queen Suite was consigned by Mr. and Mrs. Rick Abbott's Charlton.Fasig-Tipton reported 123 horses grossed $900,700, with the $7,323 average representing an 18.3% increase over the $6,185 average for the same sale last year when 145 horses grossed $896,800. The 23 horses not sold this year represented a buy-back rate of 15.%, compared with 26% in 2001.Among the horses consigned to the sale by Charlton were 1 1/2 dozen head owned by the estate of the late trainer Robert W. Camac. Camac and his wife, Maryann, were killed last Dec. 6 at their farm in Oldmans Township, N. J. His stepson, Wade Russell, 36, of Carney's Point, N. J., has been charged with the double homicide but has pleaded not guilty.Results, Fasig-Tipton
