Shadwell Stud announced the appointment of Rachael Gowland to the position of marketing and nominations manager.

Born and raised in Yorkshire, England, Gowland began her career in the racing industry as an office assistant at Mark Johnston Racing after graduating from Edinburgh University.

Following a season as racing secretary to Amanda Perrett, she enrolled in the National Stud diploma course and went on to receive the Tim Dunlop Memorial Award for the student with the highest practical and academic marks in her intake.

Following graduation, Gowland took on the vacant position of stud secretary and progressed to the role of marketing executive and stud secretary when The Jockey Club took ownership of The National Stud in 2008.

During her time there, she was responsible for the stud's marketing campaigns and supported Brian O'Rourke in the sale of nominations to the stallions.

As part of the Shadwell team, Gowland will be responsible for the sale of nominations to the stallions based at the Nunnery Stud in Norfolk, England, supporting the marketing of the operation's other United Kingdom and European-based sires, and organizing Shadwell-sponsored events in the UK and Europe.

"I am delighted to be joining Shadwell and am looking forward to helping the team support and enhance the Shadwell brand," said Gowland in a release. "It is an organization I have admired for many years and feel privileged to be chosen to work for such a trusted, well-respected, and influential member of the racing and breeding industry."
