Hall of Fame jockeys Pat Day and Chris McCarron are among those scheduled to participate in the inaugural "Battle in the Saddle Celebrity Team Penning Event" at the Kentucky Horse Park's Covered Arena on Sunday, July 14. Also listed on the celebrity list of participants are jockey Calvin Borel, trainer Charlie LoPresti, and retired jockey Patti Cooksey.
The event will pair two amateur riders with a celebrity guest rider to compete to see who has the skills and bravery to pen a group of cattle in the quickest time. All proceeds from the benefit will support the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to enhancing, expanding, and improving the Kentucky Horse Park.

—Derek Braun, International Grand Prix rider and owner of Split Rock Farm;
—Patti Cooksey, retired Thoroughbred jockey;
—Buck Davidson, International Event rider;
—Pat Day, Hall of Fame jockey;
—Kevin Huber, punter for the Cincinnati Bengals of the NFL;
—Charlie LoPresti, trainer of 2012 Horse of the Year, Wise Dan;
—Mal McGuire, reining horse trainer and competitor;
—Matthew Mitchell, head women's basketball coach, University of Kentucky;
—Sam Shepard, playwright, actor, director, and Thoroughbred breeder;
—Mark Stoops, head football coach, University of Kentucky; and
—Chris McCarron, Hall of Fame jockey
The event begins at 5 p.m. (EDT) with the penning competition starting at 7 p.m. General admission tickets cost $10 and may be purchased in advance or at the door; children 12 and under admitted free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Tickets for a pre-competition cocktail party and dinner are $75 and must be purchased in advance.
