Officials with the IFHA and Longines also announced the Swiss watchmaker has entered into a sponsorship agreement that includes an award to be presented annually to the top three-rated horses in the IFHA's best horses rankings.

The agreement, announced by IFHA chairman Louis Romanet and Longines president Walter von Kanel, makes Longines an official partner and the official watch of IFHA and the official sponsor of the IFHA's best racehorse rankings that are released about 10 times a year.

The announcement said IFHA and Longines will present an award to the owners of the top three rated horses for the year during the Hong Kong International Races gala reception in December 2013.

Additionally, an annual "Longines and IFHA International Award of Merit" will be presented to an outstanding international personality of the horseracing industry that could be an owner, breeder, trainer, jockey or any person linked with the horse racing industry, the release said.
