Nine-year-old gelding Unreachable Star kept his streak going June 5 when he won an Indiana-bred stakes for the sixth consecutive year.

Owned by Loosen Up Stable and trained by Tim Glyshaw, Unreachable Star rallied from ninth early to get up by a neck to take the $85,000 William Henry Harrison Stakes at Indiana Downs. He had won the 2009 and 2011 editions of the six-furlong stakes for state-bred runners and finished third in the race last year.

Unreachable Star, bred in Indiana by Dr. Crystal Chapple, is by Unloosened out of the Stars n' Stripes mare Starsovertheriver. The gelding is the all-time Indiana-bred earnings leader with $752,069 on a record of 17 wins, 10 seconds, and eight thirds from 57 starts.

Unreachable Star, ridden by Marlon St. Julien in the William Henry Harrison, has won seven stakes and also has six seconds and four thirds in stakes at Indiana Downs and Hoosier Park. He made his career debut in March 2007 in a $50,000 maiden claiming event at Turfway Park and broke his maiden in his fourth start in maiden special weight company at Indiana Downs.

The gelding has won at least one stakes each year since 2008.

"He has won on dirt, turf, and at long and short distances," said Glyshaw, who is based at Churchill Downs. "He is the most special horse I have worked with."

St. Julien, who rode Unreachable Star to victory last fall in the Gus Grissom Stakes for state-breds at Hoosier Park, also won the $85,000 Shelby County Stakes for Indiana-bred fillies and mares on the June 5 program at Indiana Downs. The winner, Ms. Smitty, a 4-year-old Moro Oro filly, is owned and was bred by Rockfield Farm and is trained by Cindy Huber.
