Red Baron's Barn's Janet tracked pacesetter Impeachable through the early going, then rallied to a 1 3/4-length win in the $100,000 Brown Bess Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Golden Gate Fields. Under David Flores, Janet completed the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.14 on good turf.

Impeachable held on to finish second, a neck-length ahead of Alexine. Polaire and Autumn Rhythm completed the order of finish.

Janet earned $55,000 while improving her career record to eight wins from 22 starts. The Darrell Vienna-trained 5-year-old daughter of Emperor Jones previously won four other stakes races, including the Yellow Ribbon Stakes (gr. IT) and Ramona Handicap (gr. IT). She was bred in Great Britain by Fares Stables Ltd.

Janet paid $3, $2.40, and $2.10 as the 1-2 favorite. Impeachable returned $4 and $2.10 and Alexine $2.10. The $1 exacta paid $8.50. (Chart, Equibase)
