Graded stakes winning sire, Composer, previously standing in Kansas, has moved to Mora, N.M., as a result of the relocation of McGuire Thoroughbreds.

According to a statement from Dr. William McGuire, "With the failure of the Kansas legislature to reopen the racetracks, McGuire Thoroughbreds decided the move was necessary."

While electronic gaming machines had been approved for Kansas race tracks, the high tax rates prevented the tracks from profitably maintaining the machines on site. The Kansas legislature has not yet approved any modifications of these rates. There has been no live racing at The Woodlands in Kansas City, the state's primary racetrack, since 2008.

Winner of the 1995 Jim Dandy Stakes (gr. II), Composer has sired stakes winners Princess Composer and Speedy Tiffany. Lifetime earnings of his progeny surpass $1.5 million. Composer is by Easy Goer out of Honoria, by Danzig. He will stand at McGuire Thoroughbreds, for a fee of $2,000.
