Robert Abbo Racing Stable's Immortal Eyes, a top Mid-Atlantic region sprinter with 13 victories and 12 seconds in 41 starts, will attempt to get his first victory at Pimlico Race Course in the May 18 Maryland Sprint Handicap (gr. III) at six furlongs.

Immortal Eyes, an 8-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Greatness, finished fifth in last year's Maryland Sprint Handicap but in 10 subsequent starts has three wins, four seconds, a third, and two fourth-place finishes. The Damon Dilodovico trainee is particularly fond of Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, where he won three stakes during that period.

The gelding has a second-place finish in three starts at Pimlico.

In his previous start Immortal Eyes overcame trouble to rally for second versus wire-to-wire winner Fearsome in the April 20 Charles Town Dash at 4 1/2 furlongs. He will be ridden in the Maryland Sprint Handicap by Sheldon Russell at 114 pounds from post 5 in a 10-horse field.

The 121-pound highweight is Swilcan Stables Poseidon's Warrior  , upset winner of the 2012 Vosburgh Handicap (gr. I) at Saratoga Race Course for trainer Robert Reid Jr. The 5-year-old Maryland-bred horse by Speightstown   hasn't raced since December but sports three solid half-mile drills at Parx Racing.

John Bisono, based at Parx, is named to ride from post 6.

Others in the $150,000 Maryland Sprint Handicap are Action Andy, Broad Rule, Manito, Hardened Wildcat, Candyman E, Laurie's Rocket, Warrioroftheroses, and Sage Valley.
