A strapping chestnut colt by Gold Brose sold for $145,000 (approximately $61,335 in U.S. funds) Wednesday to top the opening session of the select colts portion of the New Zealand national yearling sale series. Trainer Bryce Tankard purchased the colt from Fayette Park Stud.

The colt was produced from the unraced Grosvenor mare Beautiful Sea, whose dam, Syrian Sea (by Vice Regal) captured the 1989 Paxus CRS Wellington Stakes (NZ-III). He is also from the family of Electronic, a group I winner in Australia.

In all, 140 horses were sold for a gross of $4,402,000 ($1,862,046) and an average of $31,443 ($13,300).
