Canadian whiskey company Crown Royal has pledged a $1 million donation to Thoroughbred Charities of America if retired Hall of Fame jockey Laffit Pincay, Jr. can correctly pick the top three finishers, in order, of each of this year's Triple Crown races.
Thoroughbred Charities of America is a charitable organization that provides grants to non-profit organizations that work toward improving the lives of Thoroughbred racehorses and the people who work with them.
The May 4 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) at Churchill Downs kicks off the Triple Crown and is followed by the May 18 Preakness Stakes (gr. I) and Belmont Stakes (gr. I) on June 8.
Pincay's selections for the Derby are:
"This is such an innovative and fun way for Crown Royal to highlight what I believe is the most historic series of sporting events all year," Pincay said in a release. "As someone who has almost taken home one of the trophies, I look forward to doing my best to predict the top three in an effort to give back to a tight knit community that has provided me so many memories throughout my career."
