Brushed By a Star is Class of Sixty Sails
The 1 1/8-mile event drew a field of six fillies and mares with an approximate post time of 4:35 p.m. CDT, immediately preceding the $750,000 Illinois Derby (gr. III) at 5:15 p.m. CDT.
Brushed by a Star, who races for the partnership group Unlimited Equine, has been on the board in her past five starts for trainer Eddie Kenneally, but tangles with Fox Hill Farms' Joyful Victory have not always gone in her favor. The 5-year-old daughter of Eddington was third last time out in the March 16 Santa Margarita Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park, which Joyful Victory won before being sent to the sidelines for some rest (plans call for a fall-oriented Breeders' Cup campaign). Brushed by a Star also ran second to that rival in the Houston Ladies Classic on Jan. 26.
In 2012 Brushed by a Star earned her first graded stakes victory in the Molly Pitcher (gr. II) at Monmouth Park, and followed that with a win in the Chilukki Stakes (gr. II) by a head over Joyful Victory at the beginning of November. The Chilukki was her most recent trip to the winner's circle; she was second to Afleeting Lady in the Falls City Handicap (gr. II), in which Joyful Victory finished third.
Brushed by a Star breaks from post 2 under jockey Corey Lanerie carrying high weight of 119 pounds.

Grade II winner Disposablepleasure is closest in class in the Sixty Sails field. Glencrest Farm's 4-year-old daughter of Giacomo recently got back on track with a March 17 allowance score at Gulfstream Park; it was her first win since taking the 2011 Demoiselle Stakes (gr. II) as a juvenile at Aqueduct Racetrack.
Trainer Todd Pletcher sent Disposablepleasure to strong runner-up efforts last summer in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (gr. II) and Mother Goose Stakes (gr. II), but she lost her form at the end of the summer and went to the bench after running 10th in the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (gr. I) during the fall meet at Keeneland. The Gulfstream allowance was her first race back. Javier Castellano rides from the outside; the filly carries 117.
Another recent allowance winner is TK Stables' Devious Intent. The 4-year-old Dixie Union filly won by 3 1/4 lengths for trainer Kellyn Gorder last time out at Oaklawn Park March 10. It was her first win since taking the Genesis Stakes at Delta Downs in January of 2012.
Louisiana-bred Little Ms Protocol steps up in class off a fourth-place finish in the March 22 Gold Coast Stakes, starting outside of her home state for the first time. The 4-year-old El Corredor filly won the Feb. 2 Louisiana-bred Premier Night Distaff Stakes for Coteau Grove Farms and has four other stakes wins in Louisiana on her record. Patrick Devereux Jr. trains.
