David A. Ross Racing Stable's Perfect Officer, a nose winner in last year's Shakertown Stakes (gr.IIIT), faces eight rivals April 13 when he makes his 2013 debut in the 17th running of the $100,000 turf sprint at Keeneland.

The 5 1/2-furlong Shakertown will go as the seventh race on a 12-race program anchored by the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I), with an approximate post time of 4:05 p.m. EDT.

Unraced since a runner-up finish in the Troy Stakes at Saratoga Race Course last August, the 7-year-old Officer gelding will attempt to join Soaring Free as the only repeat winner of the Shakertown; Soaring Free won the race in 2004 and 2005.

The Anthony Dutrow trainee was third in the 2011 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IIT). He breaks from post 8 under jockey Javier Castellano, who was aboard for last year's Shakertown victory.

Chief among Perfect Officer's rivals are Vinery Stables' Regally Ready and Silverton Hill's Havelock.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Regally Ready also will be making his first start since the Troy Stakes, in which he was fifth. A four-time grade stakes winner on turf including victories in the 2011 Nearctic Stakes (Can-IT) at Woodbine and the 2011 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs, the 6-year-old More Than Ready   gelding will break from post 7 under Corey Nakatani.

Darrin Miller trains Havelock, winner of the Woodford Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Keeneland in the fall of 2011. The 6-year-old Great Notion   gelding, who took the Play the King Stakes (Can-IIT) at Woodbine in 2011 and the 2012 Hanshin Cup Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Arlington Park last year, will break from the 5 hole with Garrett Gomez in the irons.

John Menary and Gail Cox's grade II winner Something Extra, William Stiritz's stakes winner Hogy, Stud Sampaio's Brazilian import Berlino Di Tiger, Carl R. Moore Management's allowance winner Canuletmedowneasy, and Black Sheep Racing's stakes-placed China complete the field.
