Keeneland is adding handicapper and racing analyst Katie Mikolay Gensler to its race-day lineup this spring. She will work alongside longtime handicapper and oddsmaker Mike Battaglia, providing live paddock commentary and selections.
"I am so honored and proud to join the Keeneland team," Gensler said in a release. "Keeneland racing is among the best in the world and I can't wait to get started. I am also looking forward to working with someone as respected as Mike Battaglia."
Gensler hails from Arlington Heights, Ill., and grew up attending the races with her family at Arlington Park, where she later interned while attending Roosevelt College. She had her first experience as an on-air racing analyst at Hawthorne Park. Currently, she also works at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots and Presque Isle Downs.
"I grew up watching my family bet and cash tickets and caught the bug early," said Gensler. "I am passionate about horse racing and love teaching people about betting."
Gensler is married to trainer Hank Gensler.
