Elrose, a 3-year-old half-sister of Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Dubai World Cup (UAE-I) winner Silver Charm, won a five-furlong training race at Fair Grounds on Wednesday.

Elrose completed the race for 3- and 4-year-old fillies in 1:03 4/5. According to comments on the race posted on the Fair Grounds Web site, Elrose "trailed early" and won "driving" to edge Miss Miesque, who also posted a time of 1:03 4/5.

Elrose was purchased for $700,000 by Winsong Farms during the 2000 Keeneland September yearling sale. As a yearling, Silver Charm sold for just $16,500 at the Ocala Breeders' Sales August auction.

While Elrose and Silver Charm share a common dam, Elrose's sire also threw two of Silver Charm's rivals from the 1994 crop. Before siring Elrose, Deputy Minister sired Touch Gold, who foiled Silver Charm's Triple Crown run in the Belmont Stakes (gr. I), and Awesome Again, who edged the gray/roan colt in the 1998 Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I).
