Magical Season is the 1000th winner for Mike Maker.
Trainer Mike Maker was represented by his 1,000th career winner March 16 when Magical Season won the third race at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots (VIDEO).
A 4-year-old gelded son of Value Plus owned by William J. Butler, Magical Season ran the 5 1/2 furlongs on turf in 1:03.70 in the $24,000 claiming race.
A 44-year-old native of Michigan, Maker began his career at Detroit Race Course and Hazel Park in Michigan, working with his father, George Maker. In 1993, Maker began a 10-year stint with Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas and established his own stable in 2003.
Among the top horses trained by Maker have been 2011 champion 2-year-old colt Hansen, grade I winner Stately Victor , and stakes winners Artemus Kitten, Derby Kitten, and Juanita.
