Gulfstream Purses to Increase by 10%

Gulfstream Park is raising all purses by 10% effective March 16 for the remainder of its 90-day Thoroughbred meet which concludes April 5, the south Florida track announced March 13.

Gulfstream is up 25% in live handle through March 10 and is up more than 10% from last year's figures for all-sources handle.

"We continue to show year-over-year growth," said Gulfstream Park president Tim Ritvo in a release. "Our racing has been strong; we've had great weather and that's promoted a healthy number of turf races; and the horsemen have once again been incredibly supportive and have helped us to run a world-class meet.

"We're thrilled with the reaction from the public to our racing and our facility," Ritvo continued. "We look forward to the weeks ahead...We're excited to build on the momentum and excitement of this meet and to keep interest in Thoroughbred racing alive through the summer."

Gulfstream Park recently announced plans to run a meet that begins July 1 and concludes June 30, 2014.
