Indiana Stallion Moro Oro Dies

Moro Oro, who set two track records at Hoosier Park, died March 8 from complications of old age at Lee Sorrell's Sorrell Farm near Elberfeld, Ind. The 20-year-old stallion (Moro--Bernadine, by Princely Native) was owned by Walter Bates.

Campaigned by Bates, Moro Oro set one of his track records in the 1996 Fort Wayne Stakes in 1:07 2/5 for six furlongs. Moro Oro won two other stakes and placed in seven others.

Moro Oro sired stakes winners Demido, Four Columns, Free Bonus, and Mo Faster and the earners of more than $3.5 million.
