Due to a winter storm blanketing the East Coast, racing has been canceled March 6 at Laurel Park and Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races.

According to the Maryland Jockey Club, there will also be no morning training at Laurel or at the Bowie Training Center, but the racing office was open to take entries.

According to Weather.com, the forecast for the Baltimore, Md., area calls for heavy snow at times, with total accumulation between five to eight inches, along with gusty winds and a high temperature of 38 degrees. Wind velocity is projected to range from 25 to 35 mph.

Charles Town officials said racing is to resume at the West Virginia track on the evening of March 7, with first post at 7:15 p.m. EST.
