Adelphia to Launch TVG in California

TVG, the 24-hour interactive horse racing network, announced Wednesday its television network will be included in the digital cable television service for select Los Angeles area cable systems owned and operated by Adelphia Communications. TVG will be available on Adelphia's digital service in communities such as Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Hermosa Beach, La Habra, Seal Beach and Beverly Hills.

Beginning in early 2002, TVG will also offer California viewers the ability to interactively place wagers on its full menu of daily horseracing by telephone, personal computer and, in the future, interactive television remote control.

"Quality television production and distribution are absolutely essential to the success of advance deposit wagering in California," said Mark Wilson, President and CEO of TVG. "Our relationship with Adelphia Communications demonstrates TVG's ability to deliver these key ingredients to the California racing industry and, most importantly, to the racing fans."

Wilson indicated TVG expects to announce additional cable agreements in California in the near future.

"This agreement is only the beginning, but it is an important step toward raising interest and awareness of horse racing in California," said Wilson. "We have relationships with other cable providers that serve a substantial number of households in California. We are poised to deploy on cable in additional homes in the next several months."

"This is a homerun for California racing and its fans," said Rick Baedeker, President of Hollywood Park. "We have anticipated the presence of TVG on cable systems in California since the passage of the advance deposit wagering legislation. Through TVG, we can substantially increase the exposure and accessibility of California racing to our fans, which can improve the economic conditions for all facets of horse racing in the state."

The only national television network devoted to horseracing, TVG features exclusive live, hosted Thoroughbred, harness and quarter horse racing from America's premier racetracks, including California racetracks such as Hollywood Park, Del Mar, Oak Tree at Santa Anita, Los Alamitos and Fairplex Park.
