When regulators meet in New Orleans this year for the annual Association of Racing Commissioners Conference on International Racing & Wagering Integrity, they will consider rule changes that could overhaul medication policies in the sport.

RCI sent out an e-mail Feb. 20 encouraging regulators to participate in the conference scheduled April 23-25 in New Orleans.

A tentative agenda includes consideration of new drug penalty structures by the RCI drug testing standards and practices committee as well as the model rules committee.

Other important topics to be covered include emerging wagering trends like single-pool wagering and exchange betting.
