Broken Dreams, a two-time graded stakes winner whose second dam, One Dreamer, is a Breeders' Cup winner, has been retired from racing to become a broodmare.

She finished fifth in the Monrovia Stakes (gr. IIT) at Santa Anita Park Jan. 6 in her final start. The 7-year-old daughter of Broken Vow   is booked to Lane's End stallion City Zip  .

Bred and raced by Glen Hill Farm, Broken Dreams didn't get to the races until she was 4 but quickly showed she was worth the wait, winning by 14 lengths at Tampa Bay Downs.

Broken Dreams won three stakes and placed in five others during her career. She captured the 2011-12 Senator Ken Maddy Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Santa Anita and the 2012 Osunitas Stakes on turf at Del Mar. Trained by Tom Proctor, she exited with a record of 7-6-1 from 24 starts and earnings of $394,072.

Florida-bred Broken Dreams is out of the Storm Cat mare Our Dreamer and is half sister to Venezuela group II winner Gran Leon. One Dreamer, who won 1994 Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) as a Glen Hill homebred while trained by Proctor, is a full sister to stakes winner/producer Lonely Girl.
