Malibu Stakes (gr. I) winner Jimmy Creed  , who was being pointed to the Feb. 23 San Carlos Stakes (gr. II) at Santa Anita Park after missing the Feb. 2 Strub Stakes (gr. II) because of a cough, will miss the San Carlos due to the same malady.

"Jimmy Creed came up coughing again so he's off for the San Carlos," trainer Richard Mandella said the morning of Feb. 8. "He's still coughing a little bit so I'm going to take all considerations and get him over it."

Spendthrift Farm's 4-year-old son of Distorted Humor  , bred in Kentucky by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings out of the grade I-winning Citidancer mare Hookedonthefeeling, was a $900,000 purchase at the 2010 Keeneland September yearling sale when consigned by Gainesway, agent.

He earned his first graded stakes victory in the Malibu by three-quarters of a length after finishing ninth in the Xpressbet Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I), and currently holds a record of 3-2-1 from seven starts with earnings of $313,000.
