Jockey Navin Mangalee fractured his right clavicle and sustained a concussion when he went down in a spill in the sixth race at Golden Gate Fields Feb. 3 .
The accident in the $8,000 maiden claiming race occurred mid-stretch when Mangalee’s mount, Thirsty for More, clipped heels with Blast the Cat and fell. Blast the Cat, who drifted into the path of Thirsty for More, finished third in the race but was disqualified by the stewards and placed last.
Apprentice rider Jose Delgadillo also went down when his horse, Black Mango, tripped over Thirsty for More. Delgadillo escaped his fall unscathed.
Due to the concussion, Mangalee was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland for a precautionary CT scan.
The track released no information on the condition of the two horses that fell.
