Three-time grade I winner Point of Entry   worked a half-mile Feb. 3 at Payson Park Training Center in preparation for the $300,000 Kitten's Joy Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap (gr. IT) Feb. 9.

There were no workout times published on Equibase.com for Payson Park for Feb. 3, but trainer Shug McGaughey said, "He shaded 48 (seconds). He went very well."

A homebred for the Phipps Stable, Point of Entry is expected to make his 2013 debut against 2011 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner Animal Kingdom   and Hollywood Derby (gr. IT) victor Unbridled Command in the 1 1/8-mile handicap.

"I'm looking forward to it," McGaughey said. "This is a no win-at-all-risk type of situation. It's only the first of February. Our main objective is the Breeders' Cup (Turf) next fall. How I get him there, we'll see, but so far, so good."

Winner of the Man o' War, Sword Dancer Invitational, and Joe Hirsch Turf Classic, all grade I grass stakes, last year, the son of Dynaformer overcame traffic problems to just miss catching Little Mike by a half-length and finished second in the Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT).

"It's always disappointing, but he did run good. He just didn't win," McGaughey said. "It's hard, but you can't cry over spilled milk. We just have to regroup and have as good a year this year."

Point of Entry has won seven of 15 starts, with four placings, and earned $1,834,490.
