The New York Racing Association will drop six scheduled live race days from the 2013 Aqueduct Racetrack winter/spring meet calendar, a decision approved by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board Jan. 31.
The following dates will be dropped from the live racing calendar: Wednesday, Feb. 6, Wednesday, Feb. 13, Thursday, Feb. 14, Wednesday, Feb. 27, Wednesday, March 6, and Wednesday, March 13.
The date reduction, which is supported by the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and the New York Thoroughbred Breeders, was one of several equine safety initiatives approved by the NYRA Board at its most recent meeting Jan. 25.
