Classic winner Ruler On Ice created some buzz at Aqueduct Racetrack on a Wednesday afternoon when the 2011 Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner unleashed a powerful stretch run to catch early leader Spa City Fever in a Jan. 30 allowance optional claiming race (VIDEO).

The victory in the one-mile race marked the first win for the son of Roman Ruler   since the 1 1/2-mile Belmont. Last year George and Lori Hall's Ruler On Ice failed to win in four starts.

Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard for trainer Kelly Breen as the 5-year-old gelding ended a nine-race losing streak, securing his fourth victory in 17 starts. The time was 1:36.97 for the one mile.

Ruler On Ice paid $4.50 and $2.70 as the 6-5 favorite in the four-horse field. Spa City Fever held second and returned $3.50. Joan's Choice was third by a neck over Keep Me Informed.

Ruler On Ice was bred in Kentucky by Liberation Farm and Brandywine Farm.
