Edward P. Evans' Raging Fever defeated Cat Cay by two lengths to win the $100,000 First Lady Handicap (gr. III) for fillies and mares at Gulfstream Park on Friday.

Raging Fever, with John Velazquez aboard for trainer John Hennig, ran six furlongs in 1:10 2/5 and paid $5.20, $2.80 and $2.20. Cat Cay paid $2.60 and $2.10, while Mandy's Gold paid $2.40 to show.

Raging Fever, a 4-year old daughter of Storm Cat, has won seven of 10 races, earning $746,705.

Raging Fever ran second to Mandy's Gold in Gulfstream's Dame Mysterieuse Stakes last year, but was sidelined more than seven months before returning to the races last December when she won the Garland of Roses Handicap at Aqueduct.
