British bookmaker William Hill will stop accepting online wagers from United States residents beginning Jan. 31, according to a Harness Tracks of America newsletter.
A letter issued to American clients from sportsbook director Jamie Hart says the decision was based on –continuing uncertainty of the legality of sports wagering over the Internet by U.S. residents,” the newsletter states.
The decision does not affect U.S. citizens living outside the United States, nor does it affect William Hillês online casino, which will continue accepting American business.
No deposits or wagers on sports or horse racing will be accepted after 5 a.m. on Jan. 31. Any bets placed prior to that time will be settled –in the normal way” and balances can be withdrawn.
